Arvind Kejriwal on Friday again attacked the BJP with an eye on upcoming civic polls in the national capital, as Aam Aadmi Party and BJP spar over multiple issues with hardly a day passing between the two parties.
“Delhi is the capital of the country. People from across India want the city to be beautiful. Despite the fact that we have been working hard to improve the education sector and other aspects over the past few years, garbage dumps remain a concern,” Kejriwal told a press conference.
The three garbage mountains around Ghazipur, Bhalaswa, and Okhla have made life difficult for nearby residents, the chief minister said.
In a veiled attack on AAP’s Delhi civic body rival, he said, “They (BJP) plan to build 16 new garbage dumps.” The delimitation exercise has been completed, and civic elections are around the corner. The locals would have a difficult time adjusting to this. It would just lead to more flash wires and stench.”
Adding that the BJP is building garbage mountains, he claimed the AAP is working to make a “city of lakes”. During his last meeting with Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, the chief minister raised the issue with him.
We have done what has never been done before when it comes to government schools and hospitals, so it shouldn’t be so difficult to address this issue. “If Delhi gives us one chance, we will do the same for other civic issues too,” he stressed, emphasizing one of his key civic election promises.
