Ahmedabad: Sola police arrested a 19-year-old boy from Kalol for allegedly stalking, kidnapping, and hurting a 16-year-old girl. The victim lives in Kalol and studies in the Sola area of the city.
The accused was held on June 17, TOI reported
In an FIR filed with Sola police, the girl usually reaches home to Karol at 1 pm every day. After the girl did not arrive home on time on June 16, her parents began to look for her and enquired about her from her classmates. After the school hours were over, one of her classmates told her parents that she went with a person on a bike.
Meanwhile, the girl secretly shared her location with her family on Whatsapp. When the family reached the scene, they discovered that the girl had been taken to the Narmada Canal, and the accused was identified as Mayank Patel. Patel attempted to escape with the girl when his identity was revealed. The girl was seriously injured in an accident when he drove away at high speed with the motorcycle.
For speed, the police arrested the suspect under different sections of the POCSO Act and the Motor Vehicle Act.
Recently, in May 2022, an 18-year-youth was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a seven-year-old girl in Surat. According to police, the incident happened early in the morning when the girl was sleeping on a handcart outside her house.
The accused kidnapped the girl and took her to his room, where he raped her, police said adding he later threatened her not to inform about the incident to anybody. The girl narrated her ordeal to her parents who filed a complaint at the police station concerned.
