Within hours of the crime in Bengaluru, Karnataka police arrested a man who threw acid on a woman. Ahmad, a Goripalyan, was described as the arrested individual.
On Friday morning, the accused threw acid on a married woman for refusing to marry him. He was being hunted by the Kumaraswamy Layout police.
Acid attacks in Bengaluru have caused panic and outrage in the last two months.
Harish Pandey, DCP (South), claimed that the accused threw acid because the victim rejected his proposal of marriage. She is not at risk. After the attack, she suffered severe injuries to her right eye, but 70 percent of her vision has returned and she is recovering in a hospital, he told her.
Incense sticks are made at the same factory where the attacker and victim worked, according to the police. An accused man was trying to convince the married woman to marry him while she had a child. The two had argued numerous times.
A man waylaid the victim near Sarakki Junction in Bengaluru while she was walking from Kumaraswamy Layout to JP Colony while he poured acid on her near Sarakki Junction.
After the attack, he was able to escape. Police arrived at the scene and transferred the victim to a hospital.
In April, Nagesh poured acid on a woman for refusing his advances. He was shot in the leg by the police while being arrested in Tamil Nadu. He was disguised as a sage.
In another incident, a miscreant from West Bengal had attacked his friend with acid during a quarrel in Cubbonpet locality of Bengaluru.
Home Minister Araga Jnanendra stated on Friday that he had sought a report on the acid attack incident in Bengaluru. “Action will be taken against the attacker. This is an inhuman act. I will get details and study legal provisions to impose a ban on acid sale in the state,” he said.
