A soldier from Jammu killed his wife and daughter inside an army camp in Assam, and he was arrested for the crimes

Officials say a Jammu soldier brutally killed his wife and minor daughter inside an Assam Rifles camp at Srikona on Saturday.

Havildar Ravinder Kumar of the 39 Assam Rifles was arrested as the accused soldier.

According to a defence official, Havildar (general duty) Ravinder Kumar, a resident of Akhnoor in Jammu, and his wife, Monika Dogra, a resident of Samba, were killed at 4.15 a.m. on Saturday.

On March 10 this year, the accused moved his family into the 39 AR family quarters at Srikona.

Police formally arrested him after detaining him and transferring him to quarter guard.

The accused allegedly slit his daughter’s and wife’s throats with a machete.

It is unknown what motivated him to take such extreme measures, but apparently there was a family feud.

In a pool of blood, the bodies were found lying on the floor of his family quarters.

When he was arrested, the accused fled into a temple inside an army camp after committing the crime.
