Aaftab spent his first night in jail under 24-hour CCTV surveillance in the Shraddha Walkar murder case

With each new twist and turn in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, the prime suspect – Aaftab Poonawala – is being sent to jail.

The first night Aaftab spent in prison was marked by tension and constant surveillance.

Shraddha Walkar, the live-in partner Aaftab Poonawala allegedly murdered, was kept under constant surveillance by CCTV 24 hours a day. As well as other convicts present in the room, he was assigned to Jail Cell No. 4.

Aaftab appeared calm and collected upon entering the cell. His only response to other convicts inside the jail cell was in English. He appeared tense and strained after the warden told him not to talk to the other convicts.

According to the jail manual, he was forced to consume plain food given to all convicts. As he slept, he didn’t seem to be stressed. Throughout the night, officers and CCTV cameras monitored his cell.

In order to dispose of Shraddha Walkar’s body, Aaftab Poonawala is accused of strangling her to death and chopping her body into 35 pieces. For 18 days, he walked at 2 am to get rid of parts of Shraddha’s body that were stored in his fridge.

When Aaftab appeared in Saket court, he confessed to the crime, saying that he had killed Shraddha in a fit of rage during a heated argument on May 18. Aaftab reportedly felt pressured to get married by Shraddha.

The forensics department also conducted three sessions of a polygraph lie detector test on the prime accused. A number of questions were asked during the test, including how Shraddha was murdered and where the murder weapon had been disposed of.

In order to shed light on some more clues of the murder case, Aaftab is likely to undergo a narco-analysis test while he remains in police custody.
