AAP MLAs meet with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to discuss anti-encroachment drive

Aam Aadmi Party MLAs are meeting today with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to discuss the ongoing anti-encroachment drive in various parts of the national capital.

Due to a massive fire in a building in Mundka that has killed at least 27 people, the meeting was canceled after it was initially scheduled for Saturday. During the meeting, Kejriwal and his team will devise a strategy to counter the BJP’s demolition drive at Kejriwal’s official residence in Civil Lines at 11 a.m.

Some parts of Delhi have been demolished by BJP-ruled municipal corporations over the past few weeks, sparking outrage from the Opposition and protests in some neighborhoods.

A number of Delhi neighbourhoods, including Shaheen Bagh, Madanpur Khadar, New Friends Colony, Mangolpuri, Karol Bagh, Khyala, and Lodhi Colony, have been subjected to anti-encroachment drives by the three civic bodies. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, was urged to stop “destruction” by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia last week.

“Bulldozer politics” is what he called the anti-encroachment drive of the BJP. He also claimed that civic authorities planned to tear down 63 lakh homes in the national capital.

He announced a day earlier that his party would form a political alliance with Twenty20, and he is currently in Kerala. In a public meeting organized by Twenty20, which is sponsored by the Kitex Group, Kejriwal said that the political parties here will not hire children as they want people who can riot and spread hooliganism. According to the AAP chief, 1.2 million Delhi residents have been employed by the Delhi government through its projects.
