Personnel withdrawn from security will rejoin with their designated protectors by tonight.
Security personnel have been ordered to resume their security duties as soon as the Ghalughara week functions conclude on June 6. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has also instructed the Punjab government to restore all security. As a result of the sensational killing of singer Sidhu Moosewala just a day after his security cover was reduced to two guards from four earlier, withdrawal/pruning of security became a major issue.
Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, who was also stripped of his security cover, had also criticized the government. In an attack on May 29, Punjab singer Sidhu Moosewala, 28, was shot dead by around a dozen assailants who fired over 30 shots at him shortly after his security was revoked by the government. He was taken to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
