Air show: Bus services curtailed on October 6 and 8

During Air Force Day on October 6 and 8 at Sukhna Lake, normal bus services in the city will be affected from 10.30 am to 8 pm. Shuttle buses will operate from designated pick-up points to the lake and back on these days, provided by the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU).

To transport spectators to the air show venue on both days, the UT Administration has engaged nearly 400 CTU buses. A total of 358 buses, including 50 electric buses, are operated by the CTU on local routes within the city.

Approximately 310 buses would ferry nearly 30,000 spectators each day from the designated points to the venue and back on both days, according to Pradhuman Singh, Director Transport.

VIPs will be transported on both days by nearly 10 electric buses. On both days, nearly 40 electric buses will ply on local routes in the city between 10.30 am and 8 pm for the convenience of commuters.Until 10.30 am and after 8 pm, the bus service would remain normal, and it would be affected between 10.30 am and 8 pm only. A total of nearly 100 supervisors will be deployed to ensure smooth bus operations.

For the purpose of reaching the venue, people will park their vehicles at 11 points and board CTU buses. Once the show is over, they will be dropped off at their designated spots. During the Air Force Day celebrations on October 8, President Droupadi Murmu will attend a full dress rehearsal.
