An agitation is staged statewide by the BJP accusing it of misusing the Punjab Assembly

Protests were held across Punjab today by the state unit of the BJP accusing the AAP government of misusing the Assembly.

Several protests were staged under the statues of Baba Saheb Ambedkar by party leaders and workers in Punjab. A life-size portrait of Dr Ambedkar was used where there were no statues to hold protests.

Dr Subhash Sharma, state BJP general secretary, told reporters along the sidelines of a protest outside the party office here, “The Constitution does not include a vote of confidence motion.”

He also noted that the Bhagwant Mann government did not mention the vote of confidence in its agenda sent to the Governor. AAP government enacted a farce in Vidhan Sabha in order to please its leader Arvind Kejriwal, he said.

He said the BJP had boycotted today’s session in favor of the “people’s parliament”. As part of its efforts to highlight the failures of the government, the party had earlier organized mock Vidhan Sabha sessions.

According to Sharma, the people’s court is the supreme court in a democracy. According to the BJP, the AAP government is befooling people by enacting farcical dramas like the vote of confidence when there are no challenges to the government.”
