AAP government’s failures were criticized by BJP workers today as they tried to march toward Bhagwant Mann’s residence, but were detained outside the state headquarters of the party in Sector 37.
In its initial call, the BJP had called on the AAP government to gherao the Punjab Legislative Assembly. The BJP, however, announced that it would protest outside the CM’s residence rather than the Vidhan Sabha after the Governor withdrew assent to the session.
At the party’s state headquarters, workers from across the state began gathering in the morning. Workers led by the state leadership held the first meeting outside the government’s office, where they criticized the government for using theatrics instead of fulfilling its election promises. Afterwards, they marched towards the CM’s house.
They were stopped by the police just outside the party office on Dakshin Marg, which had barricaded the entire area. Several BJP workers were injured by water cannons, and several, including state chief Ashwani Sharma, were taken into custody as a precaution.
