Bathinda police detain suspect seen with shooters in the Moose Wala murder case

As part of its investigation into the murder of singer and politician Shubhdeep Singh, aka Sidhu Moose Wala, the Punjab Police detained a suspect in Bathinda on Thursday.

A police official familiar with the investigation stated that he was seen sitting with the shooters in one of the cars used in the crime in a CCTV video.

The arrest of a Bathinda man suspected of providing weapons to the shooters has been ongoing for the past two days. SSP Gaurav Toora of Mansa police denied his arrest amid reports of an arrest. Toora, a member of the six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the murder that occurred on May 29, said: “The Mansa police have not made the arrest.”

Moose Wala’s killers passed on real-time information about the singer’s movement to the Bathinda man when he took selfies with Sandeep Singh, alias Kekda, outside his house. According to the anonymous source cited above, Kekda followed Moose Wala on a bike after leaving, but the Bathinda man remained behind for a while.

SIT has confirmed the arrest of eight suspects, including Sandeep Singh, alias Kekra, of Sirsa, Haryana. In the meantime, since the shooters are still on the loose 11 days after the crime, the SIT headed by Inspector General Jaskaran Singh will conduct daily reviews to assess the progress of investigations. “We are investigating all angles,” said Toora following a meeting on Thursday in Bathinda.

In the meantime, a court in Mansa has extended the police custody of Kalianwali suspect Prabhdeep Sidhu, alias Pabbi, until June 11. A day after his three-day remand ended, Pabbi was produced in court after being accused of providing logistics support to shooters and conducting reconnaissance near Moose Wala’s house.

According to Toora, the district police have also started the process of bringing gangster Monu Dagar and his aides Pawan Bishnoi and Naseeb on production warrants to question them about their role in Moose Wala’s death.

Moga police arrested the trio on Wednesday for the murder of a rival gangster and sent them to Faridkot jail.
