Democrat Azad Party Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad appointed

On Saturday, Ghulam Nabi Azad, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir state, was elected chairman of his newly formed Democratic Azad Party (DAP).

According to the leader, the resolution was passed unanimously at a founder members meeting held both in Jammu and Srinagar.

In support of Azad, 73, who quit the Congress on August 26, dozens of former ministers, legislators, and other prominent leaders resigned from the Congress and joined DAP in Jammu on September 26.

In addition to Tara Chand, former ministers Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, Taj Mohiuddin, G M Saroori, R S Chib, Jugal Kishore, Majid Wani and Manohar Lal Sharma are included.

After visiting Kashmir for four days on September 27, Azad returned to Jammu
