Devendra Fadnavis warns MVA govt he won’t rest until Babri is taken down

On Sunday, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis compared the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra with the Babri mosque and said he would not rest until the Shiv Sena-led ruling dispensation is overthrown.

Fadnavis attacked Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at a function in suburban Goregaon and declared that the Shiv Sena is not about Mumbai, Maharashtra or Hindutva. Thackeray launched blistering attacks at the former Maharashtra chief minister and the BJP in a massive rally in the city a day prior to Fadnavis’ outburst.

As Fadnavis called Thackeray’s rally a “laughter show”, he added, “He has never talked about the state’s development, progress, and welfare in the last two and a half years.” In his view, “One does not become a tiger simply by taking photographs of them. Narendra Modi is the only tiger now.”

Over his remarks that he was in Ayodhya during the demolition of the Babri mosque, Thackeray had attacked Fadnavis during his rally. According to the Chief Minister, if you had attempted to climb the Babri mosque, it would have collapsed under your weight. In response to the Chief Minister’s comment, Fadnavis reiterated that he is now 102 kilos, while he was 128 kilos back in 1992. Also, he reiterated his involvement in the ‘kar seva’ in Ayodhya during the demolition of the Babri mosque.

In response to a question about whether Thackeray contributed to any movement or agitation, Fadnavis, the state Assembly Leader of Opposition, said, “I will not rest until I bring down the Babri structure of your power.” As the BJP leader escalated his attack on Thackeray, he noted that the Chief Minister was live on Facebook during the COVID-19 pandemic, while he was “alive and on the field.”
