In spite of the disengagement of troops from eastern Ladakh, India will maintain its guard on the eastern front by beefing up forward posts and installing at least one large helipad each so that American Chinook helicopters can rapidly transport troops and logistics.
Several helipads will be built at forward locations within 8-10 kilometers of each other, according to army officials.
All-terrain vehicles, ultra-light howitzers, Israeli light machine guns, and communications and surveillance gadgets have already been provided by the Army in Arunachal Pradesh. To enhance Chinese activities along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), forward posts are also being connected to the optical fibre network and will receive satellite terminals.
After the eastern Ladakh faceoff in the western sector began in 2020, the government has been promoting infrastructure development along the nearly 3,500-km-long LAC.
