In an email to a BJP MLA, a PFI member issues a threat to bomb Ayodhya and Mathura

Vijay Deshmukh, a BJP MLA from Maharashtra, allegedly received a ‘sar tan se juda’ threat from a PFI member after a major crackdown on the extremist group Popular Front of India (PFI). As a result of its anti-India activities, and alleged links with militant groups like ISIS and Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), the Centre has just banned the extremist Islamic group.

Vijaykumar Deshmukh has filed a police complaint against alleged PFI leader Mohd Shafi Birajdar, claiming that the latter threatened to decapitate him due to his anger over the government’s ban on the PFI.

Here is the letter I sent to MLA Vijay Deshmukh

According to the complaint, the PFI member allegedly threatened suicide bombers to target prominent Hindu temples like Ayodhya Ram Mandir and Krishna Janmabhoomi Mandir. They also claimed to be targeting prominent politicians, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others.

A police investigation is underway in Solapur to determine the veracity of the letter

Ban on Popular Front of India

Through its comprehensive ‘Operation Octopus’, the Government of India conducted raids across the country and identified alleged links between terrorist organisations and the extremist group PFI.

On September 22, the Union Home Ministry banned PFI and eight of its subsidiaries and partner groups in India for the next five years.

According to the notification, PFI was linked to international terrorist groups ISIS and SIMI.
A ED investigation revealed that the Rehab India Foundation mobilized funds to fuel anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) protests in the country and other financial irregularities.
