Rakshitha, who slipped while boarding a bus on September 18 at Basavanahalli, Chikkamagaluru, was retrieved on Thursday by doctors, who recovered kidneys, eyes, liver and heart from her.
It was discovered that Rakshitha’s brain was dead, but that the rest of her organs were still functioning. Because of this, her parents – Shekar Naik and Lakshmi Bai – decided to donate her organs.
During his stay at a Chikkamagaluru hostel, the deceased resided in the Somanahalli Tanda neighborhood of Kadur taluk.
Her organs were successfully recovered by doctors from Bengaluru who arrived in Chikkamagaluru and airlifted them to Bengaluru. In order to reach Bengaluru, Rakshitha’s heart had to be flown from Chikkamagaluru first.
In an interview with reporters, Lakshmi Bai said that she and her husband made a bold decision by donating her organs so that their daughter could be alive in another’s body for a while.
We flew Rakshitha’s organs to a variety of locations. Chikkamagaluru received her eyes, Mangaluru received her liver, Udupi received her kidneys and Bengaluru received her heart. A mismatch in blood groups between the donor and the recipient prevented the lungs from being used.
