Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that during the Congress rule, terrorism was at its peak, and the party targeted him instead of terrorists due to vote bank politics.
As PM Modi pointed out at a public meeting in Kheda, Gujarat has long been a target of terrorism. People in Gujarat were killed in explosions in Surat and Ahmedabad. Congress was at the Centre then, and we asked them to target terrorism, but they targeted me instead. Terrorism was at its peak.”
As the Prime Minister pointed out, Congress considers terrorism to be its vote bank, adding that several other parties indulge in appeasement politics, as well.
“During the Batla House encounter, Congress leaders cried in support of the terrorists. Even terrorism is a vote bank for Congress. There are several other parties that are supporting shortcuts and appeasement,” he added.
The Prime Minister said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is working towards eliminating terrorism. Congress questions our surgical strike, but your one vote in 2014 has made a lot of difference in killing terrorism in the country. Terrorists have to think a lot before attacking our borders. “I have to save them from bomb explosions, only the BJP’s double engine government can do this,” Modi added to the state’s youth, who have never seen a curfew. Only the BJP’s double engine government can do that.”
On December 1 and December 5, Gujarat Assembly elections will be held, whose results will be announced on December 8, which is also the Himachal Pradesh result date.
The BJP lost 99 of 182 seats in the 2017 Gujarat elections. Modi has served as chief minister for the last 27 years, making him the longest-serving chief minister in the state’s history. This time, the party under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and CR Patil is aiming to get its highest seat tally exceeding 140. The state has been a BJP stronghold for a long time and the party is determined to return to power for the seventh time. From 2001 to 2014, Prime Minister Modi served as Gujarat’s longest-serving chief minister.
However, it faces a stiff challenge from the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), whose candidate for chief minister is Isudan Gadhvi. To unseat the BJP, the Congress will also put its best foot forward.
