In Hyderabad, six people were killed when a fire broke out in an electric scooter recharging unit

An early Monday morning fire at a hotel in Secunderabad killed six people and injured several others.

On the ground floor of the building, the fire broke out at the charging unit of an electric scooter showroom, according to Hyderabad Police. This resulted in smoke trapping people on higher floors.

The fire was put under control by several fire tenders. People were evacuated by police as soon as they reached the scene.

The fire broke out in the charging station for electric scooters on the ground floor. The smoke overwhelmed the residents on the first and second floors. Residents jumped out of the building and were rescued by locals. They were taken to the hospital. Fire tenders were on the spot,” Hyderabad Commissioner CV Anand said.

It was an unfortunate incident. Fire brigade teams attempted to rescue people from the lodge, but due to heavy smoke, some died. Some people were rescued from the lodge. We are investigating how this occurred,” he said.
