Santosh Sahu, a beggar from Amarwara village in Chhindwara, recently purchased a moped worth Rs 90,000 as a gift for his wife.
The couple earns Rs 300 to Rs 400 a day by begging at bus stops, temples and mosques. They collected the money for the vehicle over the past four years. It is often there that they obtain their meals. Sahu, who has disabled legs, begs for alms alongside Munni.
In the past, Munni would push a tricycle forward while he sat on it. Due to the bad roads and unpredictable weather, the couple would often get sick pushing the tricycle for extended periods of time. The couple now begs for alms on their moped bike, which Sahu bought for her.
