Due to the rising number of dog bite incidents in Noida, the authorities have developed a pet animal policy.
In accordance with the guidelines of the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), the Noida authority took the decision at its 207th board meeting.
It was decided to formulate a policy for stray/pet dogs/pet cats in Noida Authority’s 207th board meeting. In a tweet, Ritu Maheshwari, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Noida Authority, said that the authority had followed the guidelines set forth by the Animal Welfare Board of India for Noida region.
Dogs must also be sterilized or vaccinated against rabies, and violators can be fined Rs 2000 every month if they do not comply.
As of March 1, 2023, pet dogs must be sterilized and vaccinated against rabies. Violations will result in a fine of Rs 2000 per month.
In a tweet, the authority reported that “with the consent of RWA/AOA/village residents, a dog shelter for sick/aggressive street dogs will be constructed whose maintenance will be handled by the concerned RWA/AOA.”
Animal owners are responsible for cleaning litter left on public property by their pets.
From March 1, 2023, in case of any untoward incident caused by a pet dog/cat, the owner will be responsible for treating the injured person/animal along with imposing a fine of Rs 10,000.
