The collapse of a wall at a house in Morbi district in Gujarat’s Morbi district left three family members dead on Monday (June 13, 2022).
Sundaribhavani village, part of Halvad taluka, is where the victims were sleeping late Sunday night when they were attacked. When a wall collapsed in their house, the victims suffered serious injuries, and two were killed immediately. An official from Halvad police station said they were in their mid-20s to mid-30s.
An official said police reached the spot after being alerted by some villagers and sent the bodies to morbi hospital for postmortem.
According to another official, a woman died Sunday evening after being struck by lightning in Jhikiyari village of the district. In the 24-hour period ending at 6 am on Monday, rain or thundershowers were reported in 91 talukas in Gujarat, according to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC).
The rainfall measured 25 to 75 millimeters in 11 talukas across districts like Mahisagar, Junagadh, Amreli and Dahod, it said. Data from SEOC shows that Halvad, Vankaner, and Tankara talukas received showers in Morbi district.
