In Punjab’s Gurdaspur International Border Area, BSF foils Pakistan’s drone intrusion bid

The Punjab Border Security Force (BSF) foiled yet another Pakistani drone intrusion attempt on Monday, September 12, as instances of Pakistani drones infiltrating Indian territory continue to be reported from the border regions.

In the early hours of Monday morning, September 15, a Pakistani drone attempted to enter Indian territory in the Kalanaur area of Punjab Gurdaspur. As the drone was being observed in the Kalanuar area of the international border in Gurdaspur, alert Border Security Force (BSF) troops spotted it and foiled the attempt at infiltration by firing multiple rounds at the Pakistani drone, which was forced to return to Pakistan.

A search operation has been launched in the area to see if any packages were dropped on Indian territory by the drone. A DIG of the BSF has also been sent to the site to monitor the search operations.

The BSF had previously foiled a Pakistani drone infiltration attempt on July 22 in Punjab. BSF fired 36 times at the drone in Punjab’s Amritsar’s Ajnala sector after it attempted to enter Indian territory. Following the firing, the drone returned to the Pakistan border after being 300 meters inside the Indian Territory for about 5 minutes.

Over the last few months, drone sightings have increased near Punjab and J&K’s border areas. Drones used by Pakistan are notably used to drop drugs and weapons inside Indian territory in order to boost terrorism. As a result, the security forces protecting the border regions with their alertness are foiling the neighbor’s plans to infiltrate.
