In wake of the Morbi tragedy, PM Modi cancels his Ahmedabad road show and may visit the accident site

The Prime Minister has decided to cancel Monday’s roadshow in Ahmedabad due to the Morbi tragedy. He is currently on a three-day tour of Gujarat and Rajasthan.

On the other hand, there will be official programmes to dedicate Railway projects worth Rs 2,900 crore.

A visit to the site of the incident is expected by PM Modi, according to the report.

According to the BJP media convenor, Monday will not be a day of celebration.

There will be no “page committee sammelan” on Tuesday, according to the sources.

Rescue personnel recovered more bodies from the Machchhu river on Monday following the collapse of the Morbi suspension bridge in Gujarat.

It collapsed around 6.30 pm on Sunday, five days after being reopened after extensive repairs and renovations.

There have been at least 130 deaths reported so far, according to the official.

In response to the incident, Prime Minister Modi expressed grief on Sunday.

According to Sanghavi, an FIR was filed in connection with the bridge collapse under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 308 (intentional act causing death), and 114 (abettor present when offence committed).

Diwali vacation and the fact that it was a Sunday caused a rush of tourists to the bridge, which is a major tourist attraction.

The bridge was reopened to the public on October 26 after nearly six months of repair work by a private contractor.

In addition to the Rs 4 lakh compensation for the deceased, the state government has also decided to compensate the injured with Rs 50,000.
