New Delhi: India reported 3,205 new Covid-19 cases, 31 deaths and 2,802 recoveries made in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate stood at 1.07% while the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.70%.
Celebrations on Eid-ul-Fitr during the last two years were subdued with no major congregational prayers and community feasts due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

However, with the spread of the virus fairly under control and restrictions relaxed, people gathered at mosques across the vast expanse of the country on Tuesday for prayers.
Delhi on Tuesday reported 1,414 COVID-19 cases, around 31 per cent more than a day ago, though the positivity rate came down to 5.97 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department. One death occurred due to the disease.
With these new cases, the national capital’s overall COVID-19 tally has increased to 18,87,050, while the death toll stands at 26,176.
Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded 182 new COVID-19 cases, including 100 in Mumbai, and one death, in Parbhani, taking the state’s tally to 78,78,175 and the toll to 1,47,845, a health official said.
Mumbai on Tuesday reported 100 COVID-19 cases, a return to three-figure addition to the tally for the first time after April 27, when 112 people were detected with the infection, a civic official said.
Telangana on Tuesday reported 36 new COVID-19 cases taking the total to 7,92,108. Hyderabad saw the highest number of cases with 25. No fresh fatalities occurred due to the infectious disease and the death toll continued to be 4,111, a Health department bulletin said.
Tamil Nadu on Tuesday registered 39 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the total positives to 34,54,058. The cumulative recoveries went up to 34,15,545 including the 56 people who were discharged in the last 24 hours.
As many as 81.2 lakh people died in India in 2020, an increase of 6.2 per cent than 2019 when the country had registered 76.4 lakh deaths, according to data prepared by the Registrar General of India (RGI).
In 2020, when Covid-19 was first reported in the country, 1.48 lakh people lost their lives due to the pandemic, which is substantially higher than 2021 when 3.32 lakh people died due to the disease.
According to Union health ministry data, provided on Tuesday morning, 5,23,889 people have lost their lives to the virus in the country since early 2020.
