Iqbal Singh Lalpura, chief of the National Minority Commission, says conversion of Sikhs must stop

As Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), Iqbal Singh Lalpura was dismayed at the “deceitful method” Christians were using to convert Sikhs.

It has been reported that missionaries are forcibly converting Sikhs to Christianity. They are being probed by me. He called these conversions extra-constitutional and urged their immediate halt.

Former IPS officer Lalpura was accompanied by BJP leader and ex-Qadian MLA Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa. In addition, he met with Ahmadiyya community members and promised to discuss their grievances with officials in New Delhi. Satnam Singh Bajwa memorial school hosted a sports function with Lalpura as the chief guest.

He said he had received reports that many conversions had occurred near the international border. In such cases, he requested that the Punjab Government provide an action taken report.
