Mohali: Rohit Sharma stole the show during the press conference on Sunday ahead of the three-match Twenty20 International series against Australia.
In addition to confirming that KL Rahul and Virat Kohli would open with him, Rohit also provided a hilarious reply to a journalist’s lengthy question. In a question about veteran Jhulan Goswami’s retirement, a journalist asked Rohit about his statement that the team was 90-95 percent settled. In his usual humorous way, Rohit responded to the question by taking his time, adjusting his cap, and saying “kitney sawaal puchtey ho”.
As part of his praise for Arshdeep Singh, Rohit noted his growth during the Asia Cup.
In his first year of international cricket, Arshdeep bowled very impressively. The way he landed yorkers under extreme pressure in his first year was impressive. He is very smart and keeps things simple. Arshdeep has done well in IPL and here, and now we have the variety we have always wanted in our attack,” he said, praising him for his efforts.
Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel will return to the Indian team for the series against Australia after missing the Asia Cup due to injuries. Although Australia are the reigning World Champions and South Africa have proven that they cannot be underestimated, Sharma is wary of these two teams’ challenge and wants to know more about his players against strong sides.
