It’s stunning! Dubai’s majestic Hindu temple opens to the public on Dussehra

In the Jebel Ali area of Dubai, a grand Hindu temple was inaugurated last night on the occasion of Dussehra. In the UAE, Sindhi Guru Darbar Temple is one of the oldest Hindu temples.

In the temple’s multipurpose hall on the ground floor, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, lit a lantern to inaugurate the temple. In the main prayer hall, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held. The ceremony was attended by several high-profile CDA officials, including the Indian Ambassador to the UAE and the Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence.

In 2022, we founded a community-driven temple. In a statement, the Hindu Temple Dubai described itself as a space informed by tradition, nurtured by faith and crafted for the future.

“It is a contemporary spiritual hub that houses the many faces of divinity, from communal connection to worship, knowledge, and societal aid,” it added.

There was a huge footfall on day one at the temple, which can easily accommodate around 1,000 to 1,200 worshippers daily. In addition to the Guru Granth Sahib, the temple houses 16 deities on an area of 80,000 square feet, including Shiva, Krishna, Ganesh, and Mahalakshmi.

In August, the temple also installed the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book, in what is described as the ‘Worship Village’ in Jebel Ali.
