In Odisha, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has decided to support Jagdeep Dhankhar, the vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Official confirmation from the ruling BJD is still pending.
The decision came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Odisha CM and BJD President Naveen Pattnaik on Sunday.
On Saturday, the BJP announced that Jagdeep Dhakhar would be the next vice president of India for the NDA. Following a meeting of the party’s parliamentary board in Delhi, BJP chief JP Nadda made the announcement.
