On Saturday (22 August 2020), The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) announced the ‘extremely strong rainfall’ between 24-26 August in West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand.
“Isolated very heavy rainfall very likely over Odisha on 24th-26th August with extremely heavy falls on 25th and very heavy falls over Gangetic West Bengal on 25th & 26th and over Jharkhand on 26th August,” said the IMD
The IMD said it may result in a increase in rainfall level over east and neighboring Central India from around 24 August due to the possible development of the low-pressure system across North Bay of Bengal.
The IMD has also reported that in typical locations in South Rajasthan, Bihar, West Madhya, Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand, mild lightning storm was very probable over the next 24 hours.
