A month-long programme aimed at celebrating, reaffirming, and rediscovering the ties linking Tamil Nadu and Varanasi was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.
Ahead of the inauguration, PM Modi drew a connection between the country’s cultural capital, Kashi, and the center of Indian antiquity and pride, Tamil Nadu, while referring to their century-old shared bond, Sangam, as holy as the Ganga and Yamuna.
According to Modi, Kashi and Tamil Nadu share a traditional bond of knowledge and ancient civilisational connections. Kashi is the cultural capital of India, covering the entire country, while Tamil Nadu is the center of Indian antiquity and pride.” Prime Minister Modi said.
“Sangams have been given great glory and importance in our country,” PM Modi said, highlighting their impact during the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam. The Sangams of rivers, thoughts-ideologies, knowledge-science and societies-cultures have been celebrated by us”.
Aside from releasing books on the culture of Tirukkural and Kashi-Tamil, Prime Minister Modi will attend the event.
The month-long Sangamam will feature Tamil literature, education, culture, and cuisine, according to Uttar Pradesh government officials. Kashi, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj will be visited by guests from Tamil Nadu.
Through agriculture, culture, literature, music, food, handlooms and handicrafts, and folk art, Kashi Tamil Sangamam will serve as a bridge between South India and North India until December 16.
Shrimad Manikkavachak Tambiran and Swami Shivkar Desikar will be honored by the Prime Minister as nine prominent Tamil Nadu religious leaders. They will include Srilashree Satya Gyan Mahadev Deshik Paramacharya Swamigal, Shiv Prakash Desik Satya Gyan Pandar Sannadi, Sri Sivagnan Balaya Swamigal, Gyanprakash Desikar, Shivalingeshwar Swami Kandaswamy, Mayakrishnan Swamy and Muthu Sivaramaswamy.
Anandiben Patel, Yogi Adityanath, and Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister, were also present.
