Maneka Gandhi, a former Union minister and MP for Sultanpur, caught the attention of the media by attacking the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan, saying that leaving lumpy virus-affected cows out in the open is causing the disease to spread further.
She said, at a program here, that “the lumpy virus-affected cows in Rajasthan are left in the open, causing the disease to spread rapidly. Pustules appear on people’s faces as a result of this.” According to her, the virus has reached a serious stage, causing lakhs of cattle to die. To curtail it, the Center has developed an indigenous vaccine and distributed it to the affected states.
