Divya Pharmacy was directed to stop producing BPgrit, Madhugrit, Thyrogrit, Lipidom, and Eyegrit Gold by the health regulatory authority.
Yoga guru Ramdev’s business conglomerate Patanjali Ayurved was ordered to stop manufacturing five products on Wednesday due to misleading advertisements, The Telegraph reported.
Divya Pharmacy, which promoted BPgrit, Madhugrit, Thyrogrit, Lipidom and Eyegrit Gold as treatments for blood pressure, diabetes, goitre, glaucoma, and high cholesterol, was ordered to stop production by the Uttarakhand Ayurveda and Unani Licensing Authority.
A Kerala-based ophthalmologist named KV Babu complained to the authority, which passed the order. After submitting revised formulation sheets and label claims, Patanjali must seek fresh approval for the products.
As soon as Divya Pharmacy submits the formulation sheet, we will review it, GCS Jangpangi, license officer at the authority, told The Hindu. As well, a revised label claim must be submitted within a week to the department.”
Patanjali was ordered to refrain from advertising the five formulations by the state licensing authority in September.
Babu claimed that the advertisements violated the Magic Remedies Act and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Several diseases and conditions are prohibited from being advertised, including blood pressure, glaucoma, goitre, and diabetes.
In an advertisement for Lipidom, the product was advertised as reducing cholesterol in a week.

“Anti-Ayurveda drug mafia” was clearly resisting Patanjali, the company stated, and it would not allow the “conspiracy” to succeed. As the concerns raised by the complainant had already been addressed, the company would pursue action against him.
