BCCI president and former cricketer Sourav Ganguly made a copy-paste error in a promotional campaign by e-commerce platform Meesho.Deepika Padukone, Karthi and Rashmika Mandanna, comedian Kapil Sharma, and cricketer Rohit Sharma shared a poster saying ‘Ohseem presents Mega Blockbuster’ on their social media accounts, which looked like a film or TV series starring them all. In addition, the poster stated that the trailer would be released on September 4. Meesho’s ad campaign was going well until Sourav Ganguly aka Dada or his PR team copy pasted their entire promotional message, including instructions intended only for him. Along with the poster, he tweeted, “Make sure the Meesho hashtag and brand name are not mentioned in tomorrow’s post.”
A new tweet was posted without the blunder shortly after the initial tweet was deleted. As screenshots of Dada’s deleted tweet surfaced, netizens quickly caught on to Dada’s mistake. BCCI president has now become the target of heavy trolling on Twitter, and the brand Meesho is trending. Dada’s mistake was made fun of by Meesho on his own, but the campaign still appeared to be successful. Meesho tweeted the viral screenshot of Dada’s deleted tweet with the caption, “When Dada hits, it’s a 6. When Dada mishits, it’s still a 6.
