‘Misbehavior’ of Amloh MLA prompts boycott by district food inspectors’ union

Following an alleged misbehaviour by Amloh MLA Gurinder Singh Garry Warring with Pungrain inspector Gurmeet Singh at the Raipur Majri grain market in Khamano subdivision, the District Food and Civil Supply Inspectors’ Union went on an indefinite strike and boycotted the procurement process.

Rupinder Singh Happy, the MLA for Bassi Pathana, inaugurated the procurement process yesterday.

According to the union, the Amloh MLA stopped the process after some time at the grain market. In an alleged abuse of power, the inspector reporting the matter to the union was abused by him.

The union held a meeting and decided to boycott the procurement process until Garry Warring was held accountable or apologized to the inspector.

Union members have petitioned the Deputy Commissioner and the District Food and Civil Supply Controller to take action against Amloh MLA.

It is alleged in the memorandum that the Amloh MLA humiliated the inspector publicly, even threatening to have him transferred to Pathankot.

Asked about the union boycotting the procurement process, Deputy Commissioner Parneet Shergill said she had brought the issue to the attention of senior officials.

Defending himself against the accusation that he humiliated the inspector, the Bassi Pathana MLA Garry Warring claimed the inspector misled him and took him to Raipur Majri village for the inauguration of the procurement process. Despite the village being in Bassi Pathana constituency, the grain market falls under Amloh constituency’s Mandi Gobindgarh market committee.
