PTI reported Friday that a 30-year-old Nigerian woman in the national capital was positive for monkeypox. This is Delhi’s eighth and India’s 13th case of the virus.
LNJP Hospital is currently treating the woman. This government-run hospital has also admitted another patient suspected to have monkeypox, sources say.
In India, 13 monkeypox cases have been reported so far – eight from Delhi and five from Kerala. Five patients have recovered from the total number of cases in Delhi.
Kerala patient who died of monkeypox is the only death reported in the country.
There are 3 government hospitals in Delhi that have beds reserved for patients with monkeypox, including Lok Nayak hospital, Guru Teg Bahadur hospital and Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospital. There are also three private hospitals reserved for this purpose – Kailash Deepak hospital, MD City hospital, Batra Hospital and Research Centre.
