Mumbai has 194 Covid cases, Maharashtra 307

In Maharashtra, there were 307 new infections and one death on Wednesday, breaking the 300-case mark for Covid-19.

In Mumbai, 194 new cases were reported however, only six required hospitalization as the majority of the cases were asymptomatic. Mumbai now has a positivity rate of 1.14% out of a total of 26,764 tests.

In the city, there are now 1002 active Covid-19 cases. On Wednesday, 8,736 Covid-19 tests were performed, and Mumbai now has a positive test rate greater than 2%.

Despite fluctuations in the number of cases, state surveillance officer Dr Pradeep Awate said, “there has been no hospitalisation and even deaths have been controlled.”

As a result of the recent outbreak in the state, Dr Wiqar Shaikh, a professor of medicine at Grant Medical College and Sir JJ Hospital, said the fourth wave is imminent. The government needs to enforce the mask mandate immediately, said Dr Shaikh, since the pandemic is not yet over. It is frightening to see people roaming in crowded places and attending large gatherings.

There were 124 Covid-19 patients who recovered across Mumbai on Wednesday, and the overall recovery rate remained at 98%. Of the 24,944 beds available for Covid-19, 29 were occupied, or 0.12%.

Currently, Mumbai does not have any active containment zones, such as chawls and slums, or sealed buildings.

Mumbai leads Maharashtra with 1002 cases, followed by Pune with 305 and Thane with 162.

Pune has now recorded 1,47,856 death tolls, followed by Mumbai with 19,566 and Thane with 11,918.
