Mumbai police want to hand Nupur Sharma a summons, but Delhi police are unwilling to help, claim Mumbai police

The Mumbai Police team that visited Delhi last week to deliver a summons to suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma was unable to locate her, an official said on Friday.

The Delhi police did not cooperate much either, Sharma claimed, adding that they served Sharma’s summons by email.

Sharma personally received a summons from Pydhonie police station in Mumbai last week, requiring her to appear before the investigating officer.

Following a furore over her statement about Prophet Mohammad during a TV debate, a First Information Report was filed on May 28 at Pydhonie police station. Pydhonie police have asked her to appear before them at 11 a.m. on June 25 to record a statement.

As Sharma was untraceable, the police team contacted their counterparts in Delhi, but did not receive the “expected cooperation” from Delhi Police, the official said. Sharma was summoned via email by the police, he noted.
