New IT rules increase responsibility of social platform, fake account of Zee Business and Anil Singhvi is clearly wrong – IT Minister

According to Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Information Technology (IT), the changes to the IT rules will increase the platform’s responsibility.

According to the ministry, preventing fake news and sensitive content is the top priority.

As Chandrashekhar noted, there is work to be done to ensure the platform does not publish material that promotes enmity or incites violence between groups based on religion or caste.

Moreover, such content must be removed within 72 hours of flagging by the platform, he said.

A Grievance Appeal Committee will be formed in case of non-satisfaction, said the IT Minister.

According to the ministry, if the fake IDs are not being closed even after complaints, then it is clearly wrong that Zee Business and Anil Singhvi have fake accounts. According to the minister, it is the platform’s responsibility to deal with it.

Recently, WhatsApp and SMS messages circulated recommending investments in Magh Advertising and Marketing Services’ SME IPO.

The messages won investor confidence thanks to Anil Singhvi, Managing Editor, Zee Business. As Anil Singhvi didn’t make such recommendations, all these messages were FAKE.

IT Minister said the government will soon introduce a new Digital India Bill after consulting on the Digital India and Data Protection Bill. Good laws do not need to be made in a hurry, he said.

Chandrasekhar said Apple has assured him the stock of the iPhone 14 and Pro will be available in India soon when asked about black marketing. A lockdown in China caused the crisis. The production in India will increase, according to him.
