Telangana’s TRS government has raised debts beyond FRBM limits, according to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who claims that every child born in the state carries a debt burden of Rs 1.25 lakh. Currently, Telangana has a revenue deficit budget due to its huge debt burden. In the course of the BJP’s Parliament Pravas Yojana, she spoke to reporters in Kamareddy on Thursday, the first day of a three-day trip to Zaheerabad Lok Sabha constituency.
According to her, the state is raising more debts than is approved in the budget. According to her, the Assembly was unaware of debts raised outside. The budget does not include all debts. In her letter, the central minister claimed that the Centre had the right to question the state about its debts. She claimed that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government had changed the names of several government schemes. Despite the fact that ‘Our village-our school’ is a central program, the TRS government is projecting it as a state program.
Moreover, she accused the state government of inflating the cost of the Kaleshwaram project to Rs 1.20 lakh crores. According to Sitharaman, the TRS realized people would know the truth about Ayushman Bharat since the state had not joined the program. Her question was why the state government was not implementing the PM Fasal Bima Yojana.
According to the finance minister, Telangana had the fourth highest rate of farmer suicides among states. The state of Telangana is burdened with loans for 91 out of every 100 farmers. Farmers have not received the benefits of the Rs.1 lakh loan waiver scheme, she alleged.
In addition, Sitharaman wanted to know why tenant farmers are not covered by Rythu Bima. According to her, TRS only makes tall claims and promises but never follows through on them. Before going around the country, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao should answer the people of his state, she said in response to the Chief Minister’s visit to other states.
