On November 26, five high priests of Sikh faith will meet

During a meeting of five Sikh high priests scheduled for November 26, the issue of a separate Haryana Sikh body will likely be discussed after the Supreme Court validated the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Act, 2014. Akal Takht Secretariat official confirmed that the meeting, being held after a long time, would discuss a variety of issues related to Sikhism.

There have been divisions among the Sikh community due to the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC). Sikh intellectuals and legal experts were negotiating to counter the SC judgment that had already been filed by the SGPC.

When several office-bearers sought the Akal Takht’s intervention against one of its leaders, alleging his involvement in misappropriating Haryana gurdwara funds and blasphemy, friction among ad hoc HSGMC members arose. The release of “Bandi Singhs” is also likely to be discussed at the meeting.

The controversy surrounding the gurdwara management’s honouring of Congress leader Kamal Nath during a programme at Indore could also be discussed during the meeting.
