12 members of Alampur village in Patiala district have had their fake Schedule Caste certificates canceled by Punjab’s Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities.
According to Dr Baljit Kaur, Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, 15 persons were accused of making fake Scheduled Caste Certificates on March 19, 2020.
According to Dr Baljit Kaur, a state-level scrutiny committee verifies the authenticity of social status certificates. People concerned were given several opportunities to be heard by the committee, and they were ordered to provide copies of their caste certificates for verification. Three of the fifteen individuals then presented their caste certificates.
A cabinet minister said 12 people did not submit Scheduled Caste certificates as per the Tehsildar Patiala’s report. In examining the records, the committee found that 12 people belonging to Alampur village had made fake Scheduled Caste certificates, although they belonged to the Rajput caste. As of today, they have been identified as Kasmir Singh, son of Inder Singh, Amandeep Singh, son of Bhag Singh, Vicky, son of Bhag Singh, Manjit Kaur, wife of Bhag Singh, Angrej Singh, son of Kashmir Singh, Kulwant Kaur, wife of Baljit Singh, Jaswant Singh, son of Swaran Singh, Swaran Singh, son of Pala Singh, Gurpreet Singh, son of Swaran Singh, Balvir Kaur, wife of Swaran Singh, Davinder Singh, son of Sewa Singh, and Narinder Singh, son of Sewa Singh.
Certificates for Scheduled Castes have been canceled and the documents wrongfully prepared have been confiscated by the committee.
