In the early hours of Thursday morning, the Indian team left for Australia to play the T20 World Cup after a successful home season. Indian board’s Twitter account shared an image of the squad. In their formals with the BCCI emblem, the players looked smart. The current form of India makes them one of the favourites. After reaching Perth, the team would stay there for a week before heading to Brisbane.
The BCCI captioned the picture, “Picture perfect, let’s do this #TeamIndia cricketworldcup.”
After Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the ongoing South Africa ODI series, Deepak Chahar, who is on the standby list, and Mohammed Siraj, who could be added if Mohammed Shami fails to become match-fit before October 15, could play in the series. As reserve players for the Indian team at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia, Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, and Chahar will travel to Australia. “It’s very important because the more matches they play (standby players), the better their groove and mindset will be. The confidence will help them if they perform well. Dhawan said here on the eve of the first game, “Who knows, maybe they’ll have a chance and can use this series to prepare.”
