An official said on Sunday that violence erupted during a Ganesh immersion procession in Udaipura town of Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district.
Following the incident that occurred on Saturday evening, the authorities have issued prohibition orders under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
A woman from another community raised objections to the DJ music that was being played during the Ganpati visarjan procession, and asked the youths to turn it off.
It happened during the procession that a woman threw water from her roof at the people participating in it, he said.
It was reported that the angry mob burned two trucks in the area after the incident.
According to him, the situation was brought under control with the help of a police force from a neighbouring town.
Pramod Gurjar, Sub Divisional Magistrate, said prohibition orders are in effect in the town until further orders are issued under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
It has now been restored to peace in the town, according to district collector Arvind Dubey.
There will be no mercy for those who spread rumors and disturb peace and harmony.
