To grease the wheels of river tourism, Assam’s CM sends off two catamaran ships

Guwahati (Assam) [India], May 13 (ANI): Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma flagged off two steel-built catamaran ships in his state on Friday, boosting river tourism in the Brahmaputra river.

Divyangs, senior citizens, women and children have special features on each of the ships, which can accommodate 100 passengers and 50 motorcycles.

Assam Chief Minister had flagged off catamaran ships during a ceremony at Inland Water Transport (IWT) Ghat near Fancy Bazar in Guwahati.

Guwahati Gateway Ferry Terminal was inaugurated at IWT Ghat by Chief Minister of Assam.

The Guwahati Gateway Ferry Terminal will be built for Rs 289 crore and will include facilities for people with disabilities, senior citizens, women, and children.

Several Aadhar-based online services have been launched by the Assam Chief Minister.

As part of the Driving Skill Training program, the CM launched the CM-TRANS application that will distribute the workload between DTOs and gave out driving licenses to 50 individuals per constituency. (ANI)
