Five people, including two children, were crushed to death after a dumper, filled with fly ash, overturned on their car in the Raebareli district, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred on Raebareli-Prayagraj NH 30 in the Bhadokhar Police Station area.
The dumper overturned while overtaking the car, as it was overloaded with fly ash. On receiving the information, police reached the spot and tried to rescue the people stuck under the dumper. However, they could not be saved on time.
The deceased were identified as Rakesh Aggarwal (45), Sonam Agarwal (35), Ruchika Agarwal (35) and two children, Raisa (9) and Ryan (6). Another 11-year-old child was rescued alive and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
The family was returning home after having dinner from a restaurant when the accident took place. Their bodies were fished out of the rubble with the help of a JCB.
Virendra Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Rae Bareli, said, “The incident happened as the truck overturned on the car. There was only one survivor who is currently undergoing treatment. All the other passengers in the car were killed on the spot.”
