WATCH: Hardik Pandya says T20 WC is his goal, ‘playing for country is special’

During the T20I opener against South Africa in Delhi, all eyes were on Hardik Pandya as he was making a comeback in the national side.

Hardik Pandya did not disappoint with the bat, smashing a 31-ball 31 to take India past 200 runs. Hardik Pandya, who led Gujarat Titans to their first IPL title, said that while the World Cup is the goal, playing for one’s country is equally important. Additionally, he noted that playing for the national team is a great platform for getting in rhythm. He also said that winning the World Cup is nothing short of the ultimate goal.

The most important thing is to do well for the country,” he said on BCCI.

I am very excited to play for my country. It has always been a special experience for me.

I’m glad to be back after such a long break. It gives me the chance to show what I’ve worked hard for. Doing well for the country is more important, and it gives me immense pleasure.”

The World Cup is the goal but I think this is the right platform to prepare for it. Cricket is going back to back so you need to keep your rhythm. This series is a good opportunity for me to showcase my abilities. My roles will be different, I won’t be the captain and I won’t bat higher up the order. This will be back to what Hardik has always been known for,” he continued.
